Tips to Prevent Injuries During Outdoor Activities

Tips to Prevent Outdoor Injuries

With summer closing in and millions receiving their COVID vaccines, people will be venturing outside in droves to participate in summer activities. However, a rise in outdoor activities may correspond with a rise in injuries. At Best Chiropractic, we have years of experience providing Hudson residents with chiropractic care for the treatment of personal injuries. Joint pain, muscle pain, and more all respond well to chiropractic care. While we can handle personal injuries, it is best to never experience them in the first place. Following are some tips from our chiropractor on how to avoid outdoor injuries.

Always Stretch Before

It’s key to stretch your muscles before engaging in intense physical activity. If you do not stretch, you can cause unnecessary injuries to your muscles that could’ve been prevented. It’s important that you stretch your calf muscles as well as your upper arms as well to prevent muscle tearing.

Drink Plenty of Fluids

Staying hydrated is incredibly important when outdoors. Dehydration can cause fatigue, nausea, and painful muscle cramps with lasting soreness. Always plan ahead and be sure to pack a water bottle or drink filled with electrolytes. It’s best to avoid drinks that can make dehydration worse such as caffeinated drinks and alcohol.

Be Aware of Your Surroundings

Keep a sharp eye out of obstacles and other potential hazards when doing something outside. The last thing you want to happen is to trip over a tree root or get your ankle caught in a divot. Personal Injuries caused by similar incidents can take months to recover from.
